A city, a team, a stadium, a flag.
To these three colours we know, Reggio Emilia cares a lot, and also our fans.
Because the flag is a point of reference, familiar as a home.
Not only because it gives the name to our stadium and not even because the Italian flag was born in Reggio Emilia, but because our team has always proudly brought the Tricolor on its shirt.
Born in our city on 7th January 1797 by the representatives of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna and Ferrara, the flag, on a proposal by Giuseppe Compagnoni, officially adopted the white, red and green tricolour as the national flag of the Cispadana Republic, the new state protection of French weapons.
The historic session took place inside the Palazzo Comunale in the Sala of Tricolore, today the seat of the city council and the most important civic events.
“Reggio Emilia is not only the Capital of Tricolore but a vital centre – by conviction and passion – of a commitment to reinforce and re-launch the historic heritage of national unity”.
(G. Napolitano – 7 January 2011 – in the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy)
